Alpha Brands Consumer Spending Index 2026
The brands index was created in 2016 to offer a dedicated universe of the most relevant & important B2C and B2B brands serving U.S. and global consumers and businesses. Because of their importance to end markets within consumption, we also include leading brands we deem vital to the consumption supply chain. Example: No one can travel without Boeing & Airbus manufacturing airplanes. These airplanes cannot function without the required maintenance and parts required to keep the planes safe. The leading brands here are Heico & Transdigm.
The index is updated each year in early December to reflect the current state of consumption trends and offers exposure to important consumption categories. For 2026, the team saw increased urgency for AI-related exposures through leading brands serving the power generation theme. Our investment team also saw an opportunity to add dedicated exposure to leading biotech and bio-innovation brands serving an aging society. Over time, we expect AI to reach into every industry including bio-innovation to help speed to market for disease prevention. Each year, the index committee identifies the most appropriate consumption industries to track, ranks all companies in each industry to identify the leaders, then decides how much exposure is warranted to each industry based on its consumer trends research. The 200 companies chosen reflect the committee’s choices for the most relevant and iconic brands that are currently resonating the best with consumers & businesses. The vast majority of these great brands have global sales opportunities and appeal to multiple demographic age groups making them wonderful long term investments.
The Brands Index serves as the investment universe for the Alpha Brands suite of investments in partnership with Accuvest Global Advisors. The Rational Dynamic Brands Fund (HSUTX) is a focused portfolio of the brands the committee believes offer the best risk/return potential given the current macro-economic environment. The fund picks stocks from the Brands 200 Index.
